9. Mae Hong Son Loop, Route 1095, Northern Thailand

4 días / 377 millas / 9 horas y 15 minutos

The Mae Hong Son Loop links Chiang Mai, Pai, Mae Hong Son, and southern Mae Hong Son Province via Routes 107, 1095, and 108, creating a long circuit through northern Thailand’s mountainous countryside. Route 1095, originally built by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, is the centerpiece, with hundreds of marked curves winding through dramatic mountain terrain. Although tourism materials famously claim the loop has 1,864 curves, the figure is difficult to verify and appears to be a marketing statistic. The loop reaches its highest point around the Doi Kiew Lom ridge at roughly 1,450 meters.
