5. Beartooth Highway, US 212, Montana and Wyoming
1 día / 65 millas / 1 hora y 35 minutos
The Beartooth Highway was famously described by Charles Kuralt in 1994 as the most beautiful drive in America, and its reputation remains well deserved. From Red Lodge, the road climbs steeply toward Beartooth Pass, winding through Rock Creek Canyon before emerging above the treeline onto a spectacular alpine plateau. The high-elevation section features sweeping curves, open tundra, mountain lakes, snowfields, and expansive views, crossing between Montana and Wyoming before descending to Cooke City near Yellowstone National Park’s Northeast Entrance.
