Named for President John Quincy Adams, Quincy was settled in
1822. Many German immigrants later came to help the community grow
and prosper. Quincy played a part on the Undergroud Railroad during
pre-Civil War years. As a port for business and commerce, Quincy
was on the Mississippi river and an obvious stop. With three
historical districts, Quincy is now a main stop on the river for
other reasons.
Visitors to Quincy will enjoy it's tree lined streets and parks
overlooking the river. National Geographic has named
Quincy as the most architecturally significant corner in the
country. From classic villas to a Moorish castle, Quincy is
architecturally diverse.
